He's worked for composers such as Dario Marianelli, Patrick Doyle, Alex Heffes, Christian Henson, Roque Baños, Frank Ilfman, Patrick Jonsson and Walter Mair. Most recently, Richard appears as solo and principal cellist on Patrick Doyle's scores to Kenneth Branagh's 'Murder on the Orient Express' and 'All Is True'.

Richard has worked as principal cellist or soloist on albums for many leading musicians including Radiohead, Celine Dion, Leona Lewis, Tom Odell, Josh Krajcik, Little Mix, Lisa Stansfield, Ash and Jackie Evancho.

Richard was guest principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2009 when they collaborated with Grizzly Bear and Nico Muhly at the Barbican, was principal cellist for the 2010 Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. In 2015, he was principal for Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's Royal Albert Hall show as part of their 'Cheek To Cheek' tour.

Richard first became involved with film projects in 2003 when Dominic Muldowney, who had already written a solo concert work for Richard to perform at London's South Bank Centre for the Park Lane Group, invited him to record the cello solos for the BBC Drama 'Holy Cross'.
