| Richard
has just been selected to take part in Kronberg Academy's Chamber Music Connects
the World project in May 2006. This comes about after he was one of seven cellists
chosen from initial applications to travel to Kronberg (near Frankfurt) and audition
in front of Gidon Kremer and Raimund Trenkler. Based on an idea which originated in Marlboro (Vermont) in the 1950s, the Academy invites young artists from around the world to form chamber music ensembles with internationally recognised artists such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, and Lynn Harrell. This chamber music project unites different generations of musicians, building a bridge between young artists (Juniors) and the world-famous musicians (Seniors). They spend 11 days in Kronberg making music together and studying chamber music works in a number of different ensembles. The outcome of this intensive rehearsal time is then presented in a series of six concerts in Kronberg and at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. Chamber Music Connects the World was founded in cooperation with the Ulrike Crespo Foundation, which was set up specifically for this project and ensures its long-term future. |
